my new table

Kolt and I haven't had a kitchen table since the first year we were married. Which is kinda nuts since we've been married for almost 7 years now and only two have we been at my parents. That leaves almost 4 years eating on the couch/floor/standing/whatever. nice.

I've been on the search for a table ever since we found our new place and last weekend I found it!

The good news: it looks super similar to a table from Restoration Hardware
the bad news: it was stained something ugly in a previous life and it was all flaking off after being outside for an indeterminate amount of time. I actually liked the weathering it got, but the finish was still holding on so we had to take care of it.

the leg on the left is sanded, the right is how we found the table. it looks way worse in person.

these brass plates really made the table awwwwwwwwwwsome!! I was super stoked. even better than the one at Restoration Hardware.
The bits and pieces that are missing in the photo are just needing to be glued back on. I think I'm going to leave the legs untreated and then wax the top of the table so we can use it to eat on and everything else a table gets used for. What do you think? I'm pretty sure RH doesn't treat their tables to keep the light/matte finish. Am I crazy for not finishing my table? perhaps I'll just do the top in a clear lacquer...

Oh I'm so glad you posted a picture of the table since I somehow managed to leave on Sunday without seeing it! Very exciting! I can't wait to see your house with all your stuff in it. What style you have, fun fun!

What in the why didn't you tell me about this. I demand to know all of your decorating news.

BRASS PLATES!! Le sigh. It is a beaut.

We need to talk about lacquering. I have experience. It is way harder than you can even begin to imagine. But I shall train you, young one. Let's discuss.
