Five Months

Destry turned five months yesterday! He's such a good little guy. Now that we're sleeping consistently through the night, days are more fun. He's starting to roll back to front, loves to eat his feet, started screaming (not because he's mad but just because he can), sits up better by himself, loves to eat peas and carrots (seriously. Likes them better than fruit), and still cannot stomach milk tainted by mommy eating chocolate. grrr. Someday. Here's some fun photos, not from today but you haven't seen them yet so there ya go.



In other news...... I GOT A NEW VACUUM!!! what a weird word. But what an awesome day for the davies! No longer will I have to put off vacuuming my carpets for fear of such a stench Kolt actually ends up dry-heaving. No joke, kids. He was the one to suggest my b-day present be a new vacuum. The problem with the old one was missing a filter that apparently was washable but SOMEONE thought it was disposable and did so--only to find you can't buy it anywhere. And yes, that someone was me. Kolt couldn't tell you where I keep the vacuum, let's be serious. (ok, he could but only because it was stored in front of his tool box and waaaay too in the way.)

And for all you scratching your head thinking you've missed my b-day...you didn't. December was just too far away for me to wait to vacuum my carpets. That would be just a little too gross considering I'm going to have a baby crawling in a few months. So I got it early. But that's all good. I vaccumed tonight and my carpet looks better than it's EVER looked and that's the truth.

Dang Google anonymity

so my mom just pointed out moments ago that one of my "google ads" wasn't what it said it was. grrrrrrrrrr. So then I went to try and find a number to call or an e-mail or something to report it and there's nothin'. They don't want people calling to report their sub-par products. Talk about customer service. It made me mad enough to just take them all off so now we're add-free! The $6.75 I've made just isn't worth risking some crap being masqueraded as an add for soft contact lenses. It just too dang annoying.

Possibly the cutest little guy ever

Oh, these pictures make my heart sing! Such a cutie. Des is getting so big, he's starting to sit up all by himself (although I make him sit in the boppy so crashing is less intense!). Woh, two punctuation marks. That's intense too! :D Aaaaanyway, the hair is still red which is amazing, the eyes are blue which was expected, and he laughs, fake coughs, rolls over, now he sits. Next on the list: fetch and play dead. Good boy.

The Harvest

My parents are out of town visiting my sister so they called me to have me go pick their peaches that were ready. Well, after picking two big boxes full I also went to see my eggplant children and my roma tomato plant as well as the chicken coop. This is what I got:

Three eggplants
a dozen tomatoes (and one BIG BOY tomato from my other plant!)
Two dozen eggs
a whooooole bunch of peaches

pretty good haul, don't you think?

Well, I've got good news and bad news....

Good news: we got our external hard drive looked at and they can salvage most of our photos/music/files.

Bad news: It's gonna cost $995 if we want those files in our possession.

yup. a small fortune for our lack of foresight and blind faith in technology. priceless.

Last week, Destry's cousin came to visit. Well, second cousin...We had fun playing and talking and the babies mostly didn't care about each other. They just liked the toys.

This is the fun outfit Kolt's cousin Taffee (same exact one that came to visit for the photo above) sent to Destry. Its super cute on him!

This is just a fun shot that started out being waaaaay too overdeveloped but I liked his eyes in it so we tweaked it a bit...

Here's the same cute outfit from before, and this photo just proves how much Destry looks like his dad. He's like a mini-kolt.

New art by me

The painting bug has bitten again. Not sure where it went for the last almost year but I've been hankerin' to do some art. So here's the latest and I really liked how it turned out. I've discovered a new secret: paint the background first. That way, when I screw it up (which I do 90% of the time) I won't have to waste time painting the harder stuff. This one kind of strikes me as something for a book--illustration-esk. I sure as heck didn't plan it that way but I've found that most of my good pieces are products of an unplanned nature. Guess I'm more spontaneous. Or you could say that most of my art is a mistake. A good mistake...

Eggplant...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'd just like to report that my eggplants are sooooooooooooooo good! Way better tasting than any I've bought from the grocery store. I threw some into my calzone last night (with chicken and cheese) and I wished I put more in it was that good. So yeah. I highly recommend this delicious Japanese variety with the name I have forgotten...long and skinny. Not the fat, short kind you usually find.

4 months

Destry went in for his 4 month check up today. He's now 16 Lbs 5 oz. and is 25 1/2" tall!! He still falls in the 75% group for everything. The Doctor was happy with everything and said I can keep feeding him lots of solids. He even did better with the shots this time, only crying for a minute. My little guy is getting so big! Awwwwww.

And in honor of the day, we took some 4 month-old picutres. Sitting up (kinda) like a big boy!!

I thought his face was pretty funny in this one. It's his "I'm folding in half and squishing my gutts" look. Charming, eh?
