Under the sea

I tried saving this and posting it after a few days and it wouldn't publish it at the top of my blog...so sorry if it's messed up for you.

But here's another installment for the quiet book. The creatures have magnets and I have to make a fishing pole so Des can go fishing. Hopefully it doesn't end up being a catapult in the middle of church...but even then my ward is pretty awesome and would just laugh. There are BILLIONS of babies. Billions. in my ward. And who ever has the best toys during sunday school gets them all! haha it's awesome. ANYWAY! The critters were ok to make, the octopus was a pain and still didn't turn out how I wanted. But I figured Des wouldn't care. The boot was my favorite and the easiest too!

Early Easter pictures

Easter is next week along with a certain someone's birthday party...So I decided it would be alright to take some pics of Des in his Easter outfit a week early. He wore it to church today, anyway, since next week is General Conference. Next week he has a super cool T-shirt to wear to his party so it really was today or nothing.

Des never stays still these days. He's always on the move. So I never really got him to sit still for a single pic. But it was fun and they turned out cute.

you can see his two teeth in this one!

I love the tongue sticking on in this one...

Consider this your invite

Obviously I've left off some sensitive information like my phone number or address so if you wanna come, just post a comment and I'll get in touch with you (leave your email if you want). I mailed out invites to addresses (these are on their way now) I have but that didn't cover everyone. So! If you are reading this, and want to come but not sure if you're invited...YOU ARE!! Promise. I'll have enough cake and hopefully the weather cooperates since its outside and we'll have enough room for everyone. If not, well...we'll figure it out. Ha! That should be exciting.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure no creepy person is reading my blog since I track who comes on and I use Google Analytics so I can see where people are coming from...but if you are that creepy person, I'm sorry. You are not invited. Everyone else, let me know! Should be fun!!

A page in progress

The classic Apple Tree page. It's missing the basket to put the apples in when you pick them but I'm still happy with how it turned out. The leaves don't come off, they're just cute. Des even stole it when I was scanning it in and started trying to pull off the apples! That's a success in my book. And the trunk is some cool felt I found at Joann's that had a pattern on it like wood. Neat, huh?

Takes takes a bite

My favorite thing these days is to let Des use his new teeth. He figured out he could bite stuff the other day and its funny to watch him discover this new talent. (as long as he doesn't turn that talent on me...) But so far his victims have only been fruits. (because a tomato is a fruit, right?? I never really understood that whole fruit/veggie argument. And then the manwich commercial pointed out that corn was a grain and now I'm all sorts of confused!)

Here's des selecting a victim from the pile...
And the result? He started coughing and was pretty confused why it didn't taste like he thought it should. Kinda funny.
Today he wanted the tomato I was rinsing off for his lunch. So I gave it to him.
He actually did pretty good at biting through the skin to get the gooshy insides. Then I took it and cut it up for him because I'm still kinda mess-aphobic. There's plenty of time for him to get dirty when he actually cares. Now is not that time.

I'm in love

With this page!! I decided that Des needs a quiet book for church. The past two weeks he has been bouncing off the walls and the toys in the diaper bag WILL NOT DO. I finished this little beauty last night and I'm so happy with how it turned out. The boat is hooked to the zipper so it "sails" back and forth as you pull on it. The sun and cloud snap on and off and I think I'm going to make a rainbow and a seagull so that they can be interchanged (since there's a nifty pocket in the ocean to store stuff). I'm going to put some grommets on the left side so that's why there's a bunch of empty space.

I have a ton of other awesome pages planned including the classic "Apple Tree" and a Noah's Ark with Animal finger puppets from IKEA if I ever get there before they stop selling them. If they have, well...I'll figure something else out. Another one I'm looking forward to is an "Under the Sea" one with fish, an octopus, and perhaps a old boot. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do magnets sewn in the creatures or if they'll just be velcro or what. Magnets would make for some fun fishing with a little pole...

Do you have any cool ideas for my quiet book?

P.S. sorry the photo wasn't working Friday. Stinking Picasa.

International Princess Project

image from here

I'm sure some of you have already heard of this from another blog but I thought I would share it anyway. It's really important and makes me so glad to live where I do and to have all that I have.

The International Princess Project is an organization that helps women (and girls) trapped in prostitution worldwide. It gives them the means and the ability to change their lives and get out of the horrible circumstances they are in. They teach them how to sew, give them a place to stay and show them how to start providing for themselves. Its really a neat thing if you think about it. We can purchase something pretty here and help create a better life for another woman elsewhere.

I went here and watched the video and decided that someone in my life deserves a pair of these pretty pants. The only bad thing was that they are sold out of all the reaaaaally pretty ones! Sad day! But good. But sad. :D So I bought a pair (using the Baby Windsor fund--gotta love that!) and sent them on their way. It ends up being a little more than what I usually spend on pj's (*cough* free. Christmas pj's baby) but I think its worth at least a pair. And when I hear the report of how they are, I might return and get a pair for myself.

Des' new boots

One of the great things about parenthood is you get to put ridiculous clothing on your baby. Like cowboy boots. Its not like this kid is just figuring out how to walk right now or anything...oh wait.
Well being the eeeeevil parent that I am I slapped them bad boys on him anyway and started snapping pics.

the boots. so cute, right?

Just standing there...so far so good

Uh-Oh! The wobbles hit!

And he's down. And not looking too happy about it either.

Des and Kobe

Des and Kobe have an interesting relationship. Its funny to watch them play--Kobe thinks Des is just another puppy. He gets jealous when Des is eating and he doesn't have anything, he takes toys from Des and whips them around the room trying to get him to chase, and he doesn't like Des to crawl by his food for fear he might turn and scarf the dog food down (Des only tries the dog food on occasion...)

Des, on the other hand, is starting to treat Kobe like a pet. His latest thing is to stick Kobe's toy inside a box and watch him try to get it out. At first we thought it was just coincidence but he's done it again and again! So funny. This particular video I missed most of the action trying to find the camera. Des was laughing and Kobe was going ballistic trying to get his chewie out. But you can still see how the game works and laugh at how my baby is starting to think smarter than the dog (even if it's just barely...) :D

p.s. sorry it's so dark. I'm in need of some video editing software. the stuff that came with the camera is practically useless!!

I'm all about the videos these days

For some reason we've been on a video kick lately. It could be that our little monkey just started to figure out some fun stuff...before he would just lay around and grunt at us. After about 23 takes of that, you're pretty much done watching the grub. Now he runs my grandmother ragged. She watched him yesterday while I was working and when I went to pick him up they were both looking a little wasted. She told me all the stuff he was into, onto, under, around, almost through (head in railing....almost) over, and again. "When I'm 80 I won't be able to do this anymore," was her summary of the morning. Sowwy gwamma. My guy definitely qualifies as "busy".

This is one of his current favorite games. Crash the car, make it go boom. He even did the boom part right before I grabbed the camera. Then, of course, he wouldn't do it as good as the first time. But its still cute.

More Walkin'

Before, when Des tried to use his walker it would jet out in front of him, resulting in horrendous face plants. Kolt decided to throw him on it again, and whaddayaknow. He can do it just fine. Well, as long as its in a straight line...
