Des hearts tomatoes (who knew?!)

I'll begin by saying this: Des is no stranger to tomatoes. He's had a few slices now and again but lately he's been trying the bits I put on his plate and spitting them back out. Today. Today at lunch he did just that. Tried the tom's and spat them right out. Fast forward six hours.

And that was his THIRD whole tomato. Right after he finished it he started to do the "cough...cough...uh oh" like he was going to spew. You wanna know the trick? It works for any kid out there. My sister's boys wouldn't touch carrots. Then they came to the farm. And picked some. And washed them. And then ate them. Des skipped the washing part and dove right in with the first tomato. He just plucked it up from the basket of produce I was harvesting and started chomping like there was no tomorrow.

(His dad is going to disown him)

Ahhh, sweet organization

We like to pile things. And it makes me a little nuts after a while. The most annoying pile is the "to be sorted" pile that usually contains bills and mail stuff I need to file away. (why not just file it away to begin with and skip the whole "pile process"? Well, I have a reaaaally helpful 1 year old who forgets the file drawers open if I don't open them in front of him. So I have to pile to file.  hahaha, that's totally my new slogan)

I found a tutorial online that kind of fit what I wanted but I had to make a few tweaks. I didn't use a canvas (because that would more than double the cost of the project) so I had to figure out a nice way to attach my pockets and keep the whole thing sturdy enough to hold stuff. Interfacing and dowels did the trick.

Now my mess can build up to unfathomable amounts before I must tackle the unhappy task of filing. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there. I'm just happy I can use my printer again without having to dig.

Missionary Mike

My little brother went to the MTC on Wednesday. I miss him already.  We had a ton of fun hanging out this past month.   We had a little going-away party for him for FHE the Monday before he left.

We did a quiz-game on the country he's going to:  PARAGUAY!! I drew a map and made some flags and it was pretty fun. We also tried some food that supposedly they eat in Paraguay...I asked him to send back recipes of stuff he actually eats when he gets there. I'd like REAL recipes, not Americanized weirdo ones.

The it was off to the MTC and we all tagged along. It was pretty cool how they do the "drop off" these days. Pull up to your curbside station, pop the trunk, helpful missionary hosts grab your luggage and a quick hug and a thumbs up from Mike and he was off. My favorite part was all the host missionaries wave and smile at you as you drive off. They were all so cute and happy to be where they were. Mike is going to be an awesome missionary.

HEY!

Remember me? The person who was supposed to go find their camera cable like two weeks ago? Yeaaah. Found it last night. And I could go ahead and say that it wasn't where I thought it was and it took days of searching through hastily packed boxes only to end up having to go buy a new one...but that would be a lie. It was right where I thought it was. And it took about 23.4 seconds to go downstairs and open the drawer it was placed so nicely in. Sorry. We had other things to do.

Like this:

Des driving the tractor with dad

and driving the lawn mower

and the firetruck (and pretty much anything he can with wheels)

driving so much he tired himself out by lunch.

Yeah...

In the move I misplaced my camera cable that connects my camera to my computer. I have pictures and a movie of the super crazy hail storm we had the other day that pulverized our garden. Seriously. All the leaves have tons of holes in them, the sunflowers are RIP and the neighbors only have memories of what their corn stalks looked like. Its on tomorrow's agenda to locate the cable and come back to the blogging world. Along with about 100 other things that are actually more important. But I will try.

Oh and Des totally face planted in the gravel outside my dad's house and now has a sweeeeeet looking snoz and face. And the best part is we have pictures for Baby Windsor on Tuesday and he's one of my models...hmmmm. And the other model we have took a tumble down the stairs at home and his chin matches Des' face I guess. So it should be interesting. We'll start a "tough-guy" line with our bar-brawlin' babies. I'm pretty sure child services would come find me.

So yeah. There you have it. A blog without pictures is LAME I know so I'll work hard to remedy the situation.

Hullo friends!

Wow, what a week we had! So remember when I thought we might have some renters? We did. (do?) Aaaand they wanted to move in that very same week so in three days we packed, moved, and cleaned our lovely townhome. Three. And that was without any prep work what-so-ever. But we made it to my dad's house, unpacked what we needed, re-packed what we didn't (because the first time I mostly just threw stuff in a box and then threw it in the back of a truck) and even went to church on sunday.

Now we enjoy lovely morning views of a golf-course in AF along with goats, a horse, a donkey, chickens, and a few stray neighbor kids. Its really great and now we're all headed for a debt-free future!! Woo woo!!

This barely qualifies as a post

But I just had a break-through. Take your ordinary vanilla yogurt. Add a spoon full of caramel topping. WALAH! Amazing!! Not exactly a healthy sort-of-deal but I guess the yogurt part is good for you. We all need a little acedophilus in our diet, right? Right. And caramel.

the end.

p.s. I think we rented our place!! We'll see if they come back with their application but as of last night they were on board. Even when we told them our washing machine had died just a day before. We'll keep you posted.
