What a weekend!

This weekend was filled to the brim!

First, Des, my father, and I headed out to the annual Cherry Creek Desert Race which Kolt's dad is president of. Kolt had left the night before to help the family set up and get stuff ready. After driving for waaaaay too long we decided that since my phone switched over to pacific time we were a little lost. This was a Utah race, after all. Nevada sure was pretty this time of year. Especially at 7 am. (jk about the pretty part...although the mountains looked nice.) We finally made it and had lots of fun helping out and hanging with the family. I only messed up one page of results...oops. Its hard to find good help these days.  I'll stick to sewing. I'm not much help doing motorcycle stuff! Speaking of sewing...take a look at this cutie's new racing shirt. I had to alter a bigger one to fit this little guy. I shortened the sleeves and the length but left the tummy alone for the most part. Good thing too, look at how tight it is!

Des loved watching the motorcycles zoom past, he wasn't scared in the slightest! It's in his blood. His name comes from a desert racer, for pete's sake! This kid's gonna race (or his dad may just sell him).

After a day in the sun Des crashed and my dad and I decided we were tired too. We headed home and all went to bed early. Sunday we tried to recover from the day before...I ended up sewing this cute church bag for Des' Quiet Book of Wonders. I put a spiffy sippy cup pocket on the side and would've done some more pockets on the inside but I didn't have enough fabric. Its what happens when you don't have a pattern in mind before you buy the fabric. O well. Its still cute!

Des' 10 o'clock shadow

The secret to a full manly beard? Chocolate animal crackers. We're gonna be millionaires.

Four generations (again!)

We kind of ran into Kolt's Grandpa Davies at a wedding over the weekend. It kinda makes me giggle to see that half of Kolt's family work (as far as his grandpa and uncle go). They just casually make the drive from Colorado without really informing anyone (at least not Kolt's dad). And not even together. But we're always happy to see them and Kolt wanted to snap a few more photos while we were together. Its also interesting to see what's going to happen to Kolt and ultimately Des with the age progression. They're all pretty much clones of each other.

Des was pretty confused with his great uncle Mike because he looks so similar to his grandpa Rob. When we first got there he looked like he was going to go see him but then he did a second take and thought otherwise. It was pretty funny. Then grandpa Rob showed up and the puzzle was solved!

I love this kid

Some babies don't like waking up. Some don't even like going to bed for that matter...not Des. He wakes up, sits up (sometimes suddenly--it freaks me out when I'm in the room. Like some zombie baby or something!), and just looks around. If I'm downstairs I just wait for the soft "Thud! Thud! Thud!" of his head hitting the side of the bed. He's a little weird like that but it makes enough noise for me to hear him. If he starts to cry I know he's not ready to get up so I just lay him back down, give him his blankie and he closes his eyes like a little angel. Man, I lucked out with this guy (it's all those times I didn't win at BINGO. My luck finally kicked in when it actually mattered!)  My next baby is going to be a terror, I just know it.  I'm counting my blessings, for sure!

Happy Mother's Day

How was your Mother's Day? I've read several blogs this morning where fabulous women spent the day at the beach, flying kites, waking up to delicious breakfasts, and other amazing fairytale-like things and it's left me thinking: well, that's all fine and dandy but did their dog pee on their 1 year old? Did it?? Because that's a story for the record books. No one wants to hear about walks on the beach and mountains of hot waffles magically being produced without an ounce of effort. Nope. Just a story about a 13 month old walking up to his mommy, (both) legs soaked in an unknown liquid and one veeeerrrry suspicious wet trail leading to an even more suspicious looking dog. To me, that's the real meaning of Mother's Day.

Oh, and does anyone want a dog?

Whats going on 'round here

We've been busy, busy, busy over here at our house. Baby Windsor got another big order, our floors are in place but the house is still in shambles, and we had a funeral Tuesday and have a wedding Saturday, plus I have my other job, and oh yeah--there's Des. The happiest, busiest 13-month old I know.  He's currently flying my car keys in his wooden helicopter. Sure hope they fly back someplace I can find them!

With our crazy schedule there's not much time to sit down and put the fifteen videos I've taken "to blog about" or download the camera-full of photos that would be "too cute to not post"...sorry. They are still too cute...just not posted. So I scrounged up some photos already on the computer that were handy-dandy. Enjoy!

Cry for me

This is what my kitchen currently looks like. Yikes. Due to the fact that we dilly-dallied way too much today we are once again left with a mess and will have to pick up Monday where we left off. Although, I gotta say a kitchen looks super roomy without the dishwasher. The living room doesn't appreciate it, however.

And yes. That's a jar of cheeze-wiz on my counter mixed in with the construction paraphernalia.
