New found entertainment

Destry loves his new jungle gym. I got it from Kolt's aunt LuRey (i'm pretty sure...) at the baby shower and we were just waiting for him to be aware enough to enjoy it. That day came yesterday. It's pretty much the coolest baby-toy I've seen and I think Destry would agree. You can see his little chest breathing pretty hard because he was kicking and wiggling for a while before I had the idea of filming him. He was so stinking excited, it was really funny. His eyes got all wide and everything.

It's seriously so neat, there are pictures of animals all over the bottom and the sides and the top is the sky with birds and the sun. Inside there are hooks to hang fun toys and the colors are super bright and fun. I love Baby Einstein!

p.s. I put him in there to play while I blogged and now he's snoozing away! Awwww, he tired himself right out. so cute!!

Destry's Blessing Day

Destry was blessed this past Sunday and it was really neat. A lot of family showed up and I was surprised at how large a crowd we had! Everyone came to my grandma's house afterwards and had a great luncheon due to the fact that my mom, sister, and grandma Morris are the coolest people ever. And we had another photo-session with my sister Carrie and sister-in-law Rachel.
This is where we took this photo, along with many others--but this is the one I have on my computer at this exact moment.

Another addition to the decor

My in-laws gave me this painting for my birthday back in december and it took this long to get it on the wall. It did take until last month to get it framed but it's been silently waiting in our bedroom, resting against the wall, hoping that kolt would hang it up. Nope. So I did it myself today. and it's awesome. The artist lives around fillmore so we saw her at a boutique and I really liked her work. She paints the scene first with an acrylic medium to get some texture and then water colors over the top. Obviously the one i have is just a print but the originals are pretty neat to look at.

Destry's Trophy

Kolt's family hosts a dirtbike race every year called Cherry Creek. Since this race has been going on so long it's actually part of a National circuit for Hare and Hound Desert Races (just the type of race). Anyway, this means that the big names of desert racing usually show up. Last year one of the dudes was filming for one of his DVD's and so we had a helicopter crew filming him throughout the race. So yeah, this also happens to be the race where I met Destry Abbot last year and really liked his name. Plus I found out he was a pretty nice guy--->he likes to give out his trophies and other prizes he wins to fans (unless it's a first place, then he keeps it). Since he's rated number one for desert races, he wins a lot of trophies.

Fast forward to this year.

Kolt went down to Delta to help out the family host the race again this past weekend. I stayed home with the wee one since he's too small to endure a day in the desert and the noise from hundreds of motorcycles. darn. ;D

Our favorite racer, Destry Abbot was there again as usual and Kolt got to talk to him for a bit before his race. He mentioned the small fact that we named our first born child after him and yadda, yadda, yadda Destry promised his trophy (if he won one, of course) to our little Destry. Well folks, he won second overall which turns out great for us. If he had won FIRST we wouldn't have got the trophy. So he autographed it for us and now it's going to sit in my son's bedroom for the next 18 years (that's a guess, but if he's anything like his dad we'd still have them up in the bedroom if I allowed it). Fun eh? So Destry has a Destry Trohpy.

Crazy how things work

Can I just say that it never ceases to amaze me how problems and situations in your life turn out when you rely on the Lord? Even the worst possible things can have a purpose and lead to possibly the best things. You'd think we would remember this every time things go to pot but we don't. But right now I'm extremely grateful for the blessings we have and the answers to prayers from years past. I love you family and I'm so glad we have each other.

Down to his watery grave

not really mr. fish but you get the idea with the white one...

I'm sad to report that Mr Fish went the way of all goldfish before him. After 5 years of happy swimming in his little bowl I found him sleeping at the bottom a few days ago. Uh oh. And then yesterday morning he was swimming sideways and upside down until he swam no more. He was, by far, the longest living gold fish I've ever known. And he wasn't even gold anymore, he went white after about year two. So although I'm kind of glad i won't have to clean his bowl anymore, I'm going to miss the guy and his little hungry dance.

He was ceremoniously flushed last night and his bowl emptied. Along with a small piece of my heart. :)
