Little Destry Doo

Someone told Des he was turning two soon...ohmygoodness. He is becoming both hilarious and terrible all at the same time. Just this morning he was sitting atop the overturned laundry basket just screaming. Making noise. Oh and he was naked (well, he had a diaper). Couldn't have been happier. All the while Kolt and I hid behind the doorway and giggled and Kolt recorded some of the event on his phone (although unfortunately he didn't get the good screaming ).

And he can now open the front door. So far he hasn't had the audacity to actually walk out but I'm guessing that will be sometime tomorrow. Oh, and he can open the fridge too. Once again, he hasn't connected the dots but I bet he stops by for a snack before marching out the front door. *sigh*

We also had a go-round of potty training yesterday. Its really round two because last week we started and he got a terrible rash on his poor behind which meant a trip to the dr to get some cream that would work and so we put the training on hold to heal. How's that for a run-on sentence? But yesterday we concluded that even though he's very willing, knows the process, and loves the rewards he lacks the bladder control to stop the almost constant flow of popsicles and juice boxes. But boy, he knows how to poop in the potty! Woo!! So we wait for a few more months for those muscles to develop.

Lastly, he calls me "mom" now instead of mommy.  :(  sad day. But kinda funny still.

a nice song for a yucky morning

got this off of Made by Joel. the video is alright but the song! the song. made my head almost feel as though I don't have a tension headache on top of a cold headache (which results in my entire noggin absolutely pounding).

Because I'm the one that edits the photos

I stole the ones Kolt took today. HA! take that, honey.

here's Des catching rainbows:
Des wings and rainbows (2 of 2)

and when he woke up from nap he had some sweeeeet hair (which went right along with us watching a few episodes of Dukes of Hazards conveniently)
Des wings and rainbows (1 of 2)

I'll let him post the ones we took out and about. See, it's all about compromise. :D

p.s. I started using Flickr like my good ol' sis suggested and the pictures turn out great. Of course, Kolt took them. He might have a bit more talent in that department than I. I'll stick to the post editing.

the number 12

has only a small part of this post....

And now, number 3: The Larch. The Larch.

And if you've never watched Monty Pythons flying circus, you'll have no idea why I just said that. or typed it. whatever.

I call this next group: Only child.

and this one is Kolt's. kinda fun. we need a tripod or he needs to stop drinking caffeine... jk honey. You're doing awesome!
Kolt was trying a new technique last night...duo-temples!!
I just had one of those ah-ha! moments. I think blogger is making my photos blurrier than they really are!! That makes me feel a bit better about my photography skills. I still keep finding my focus off but I did notice quite a few that were better this round.

And now, the number 12.  Well, my friends, that's the number of weeks I'll be this Thursday. Yep. We did it (hehehehe, sorry couldn't help that one.) We held off a little longer this time to spread the news but I was able to hear the heartbeat yesterday and now I know that at least up until now we have a healthy baby something. Due: September 16th. No Melon Days this year, which is too bad since I bet I'll be craving it like crazy by then. But I guess at least when we have visitors to see the baby we can expect gifts of melon!  :D

Hopefully now we can enjoy this pregnancy instead of waiting for it to turn for the worse...whew!

What we've been doing

It seems as though Mr. Fox succumbed to his illness (or the neighbors dogs got him...) Either way he's been a no-show for several days now. So that's good.

And the other day it was actually sunny and warm and we all got the spring bug bad. We bought seeds. We bought some sweet rain boots for Des. And we played. Outside. Gasp.

Opening the gate

Its always fun to throw big rocks

Turtle time!! (evil mom took a picture before helping him back up)

Kolt took this. I'm not sure why it went all bronze-y but I kinda like it.

And we're still trying to figure out the camera. More pics in focus this time but still a bunch that didn't work. So don't make fun of us. :D

update on the fox situation

...so we think the fox has rabies.

We took a neighborhood poll and the consensus is that foxes are nocturnal and the fact that this particular fox likes to run around ALL day long, has terrible looking fur/tail, and runs with an arched back would suggest he may not be feeling like himself.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox was unavailable to comment.

if we see him again we're calling the county wild life peeps to come take a look.

and we'll keep you posted.

Thaaat's why they call it Fox Hollow Golf Course....

Pray for your lives chickens. It looks like this little guy has been through a few tight spots...(e.g. missing most of his tail??)
