I'm all about the videos these days

For some reason we've been on a video kick lately. It could be that our little monkey just started to figure out some fun stuff...before he would just lay around and grunt at us. After about 23 takes of that, you're pretty much done watching the grub. Now he runs my grandmother ragged. She watched him yesterday while I was working and when I went to pick him up they were both looking a little wasted. She told me all the stuff he was into, onto, under, around, almost through (head in railing....almost) over, and again. "When I'm 80 I won't be able to do this anymore," was her summary of the morning. Sowwy gwamma. My guy definitely qualifies as "busy".

This is one of his current favorite games. Crash the car, make it go boom. He even did the boom part right before I grabbed the camera. Then, of course, he wouldn't do it as good as the first time. But its still cute.

More Walkin'

Before, when Des tried to use his walker it would jet out in front of him, resulting in horrendous face plants. Kolt decided to throw him on it again, and whaddayaknow. He can do it just fine. Well, as long as its in a straight line...

Here it is folks!

The beginning of a new stage for Des and the end of my sanity!!

Oh and don't mind the shirtless babe. Dinner was fantastic and the proof was on his shirt!

Always learning somethin' new...

...like that I shout expletives upon splashing hot oil on my arm. Thats a new one. Kinda wish I didn't (expletives and splashing) since I scared the ba-geebers out of my son (and maimed my arm).

One project of many

I'm thinking I want to put together a book of some sort for Des that has all his family's photos in it. And friends. And pretty much all the people that are important to us so he can look at it during church or whenever.

So my proposition to all ya'll is this: do you want to submit a photo of yourself or do I have to blog stock everyone and pick a favorite? I'm good either way, but I figured you might like the chance to send me something you like. Chances are, if you're reading this, you're important... Or a complete stranger if you're like me. (But you could still have some excellent mug shots!)

Aaand do you have any ideas as to how to make this work? I could do just the small photo album thingies where you stick in the photos or perhaps I'll get one of those books offline where they'll print em out for ya. But Des is kinda wild when it comes to paper so it needs to take a bit of abuse.

I'm also thinking I want to do one with doggies (see pioneer woman's latest photo project) or animals or trucks or all of the above. But I'll start with family first and see if its a huge pain/$$/both and go from there. Thanks!!

And I guess just email me a photo (or photos) of you/family/dog/truck/animals :D koltandlaura@gmail.com

sweeeeeeeet! I'm so excited! Now I'm going back to bed since Des just zonked out!

Tree Be-Gone!!

We had a tree out front of our house that was, well, pretty much dead. It had one tiny, puny, sad little branch that would get leaves but the rest of it was ka-put. We told our HOA people about it last year, and then this past summer again when it got worse. Finally they switched landscaping crews and whadda-ya-know. They came in, assessed the damage (for the whole Country-woods community) and began rubbing their temples in disbelief. There was a lot to fix. The past crew didn't know how to prune or feed or pretty much do anything positive to trees apparently. They have to remove a lot of trees and nurse the rest back to health. Pretty much every other tree down our street was really sick.

So this morning, I got out of the shower to the sound of chainsaws. You'd think I'd start running and screaming like some slasher-flick chick but instead I did what all the ladies do in the movies (to which we always think WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?? Run AWAY from the chainsaws, AWAY!!) But this time I was lucky. It was our tree that met it's doom.

beheaded.
It just goes to show, when you don't get scary music or quick camera flashes of knives, you really don't think you're gonna die. :D Not that I watch slasher flicks anyway. Just thought it was a funny comparison.
