yeaah...
note to self: don't eat too many of the croissants. It might make you want to puke all night long. I dunno, could be that pound of butter...
I may or may not have eaten (well, lets just say several) several of those bad boys and pretty sure the calories tried to ban together to usurp my digestive system. ugh. Talk about a french Revolution. hehehehe

I'em Frensh!
Ok so maybe not but I did try my hand at making croissants from scratch today. Oui, Oui!! Aaaaand they turned out pretty good, I know what I did wrong so in the future they'll be better. But they are quite tastey and when you're home all day anyway, the labor is not so bad. Just stretches through the whole day. seriously. I started this morning at 8 making the dough (I actually prepared the butter last night) and now its 4:35 and they are out of the oven. Whew. My house is kinda warm too. ugh. Nevertheless! Checked that off my list of things I want to try to make someday.
And for all you who would like to know what recipe I used, go to Epicurious.com's recipe for croissants and you too can enjoy hours of bakery fun. And for some reason they have a separate recipe for the actual baking of the croissants so go here for that. I guess if you use the dough for something other than the traditional moon-shape you'd have to do something else.

Destry update
I mentioned in the fishing post that Destry had his two month appointment. He now weighs in at 12 lbs, 14 oz. Measures 24" tall and his noggin is pretty normal too. All his measurements put him in the 75% range so he's a little bigger than average, but still in proportion (no huge head or anything---like sputnik, spherical but quite pointy in parts...) :D Mostly he was having a good ol' time until they started sticking him with needles. Then his eyes got all huge and he started wailing. it was cute. Sad, but cute. It took him a while to calm down after wards. I had to have uncle Brian go get some tylenol afterwards because Destry started to do the whole fever thing. Plus, his leggies were hurting him and anytime he moved he would cry and if he didn't move he would moan. hehehe poor little guy.
But now he's doing great and he even slept through the night again last night. Which was good since I was super tired having to be up so much the night before.

Free Fishing Day
Saturday was Free Fishing Day in Utah so we decided to take advantage of the day. We went to Salem Pond (which is in springville-ish) and had fun fishing for a few hours.

Kolt only caught a couple of these little tiny BlueGill's but it was still nice to get out of the house for a bit.

This guy came prepared with chicken livers so he was catching catfish. We've done that before and it's pretty fun but I don't like the taste of catfish very much. Nonetheless, he was the only one successful in his fishing endeavors. He also found the need to show us all his techniques to ensure our success in the future. He was nice...a bit off, but nice. :)

Destry slept pretty much the whole time, only waking up to eat half-way through. Then he went back to sleep. He had a rough night the night before because he got his 2 month round of shots that day. He didn't feel well after that and would only sleep for 20 minutes on his own so I had to either hold him or let him come sleep with us in our bed. He is a little snuggle bunny so its kind of nice, but not for the whole night.

Spoiled Rotten

That would be me. Destry totally slept through the ENTIRE night last night. I put him in bed around 9:30 (I'm pretty sure at least...) and woke up at 5:00 this morning realizing that he hadn't made a peep all night. So after checking to make sure he was still breathing I went back to bed (he's still asleep at this point--and breathing for that matter) for another HOUR!! Wow. Haven't felt so rested in almost a year now. He's been doing 5 hrs in a row these past few nights but man, this was awesome. And now it's 7 am and I'm getting ready for the day because he went back to bed. I love this kid.
