More low-light shots

I'm trying to figure out how to get better pictures in less light. Plus, Gray was being cute with his new favorite game: pull everything he can out of his toy basket.

What we did yesterday

Because it was so nice yesterday we took advantage and played outside for a while.

one of my favorite trees in the yard is gearing up for spring. I just love the red and white against the blue sky.

what I've been working on in my painting class

des and gray oct 2011 (1 of 1).jpg
its still wet so it comes across all shiny and weird looking in the pic

its done using the Grisaille technique that the old masters used (think Mona Lisa or this guy ) where you paint the whole thing in black and white (or similar monochromatic scheme) and then glaze layers of color over top. I loved it.

anyway, mine isn't done yet so I'll update it when it is. I need to retouch the highlights and shadows and I think I'm going dark on my background.

I can't help myself

for sale in Monroe. We have no business living in monroe. But could you imagine remodeling this bad boy??!  oh man. (insert Kolt shaking his head here.) Apparently half is already remodeled for a home, second half is a shop. Gah. I'm dying a bit inside that these finds are NOWHERE up here in Utah county. There's also a large home in, get this, fillmore. Yup. fillmore. As in the very city Kolt's parents live right this very second. I'm going to go down and take a tour one of these weekends. Drawbacks to that one is that it's not actually connected to the power grid. ooooor any water. They have a generator for power and a water tank. ha. (again, insert Kolt shaking his head here.)

still dying about the above beauty.

Dr's report

Gray had his six month check up today. some things we wanted to check were:

  • Has he lost weight since going through his cold-from-heck last week :  check.  50th percentile to 15th. (poor kid was only eating 8 oz/24 hours last week)
  • How about an ear infection :  check. Antibiotics prescribed and told to go ahead and give it to him immediately. tomorrow will be too late (didn't ask what exactly that meant) but yikes.
  • Lets go ahead and check on the suspected umbilical hernia from coughing so much : check. hernia found, although not too bad so we're watching it.
And the doctor said that Gray probably had RSV but looks like we're coming out of it.

oh and don't forget the vaccines the poor kid had to get on top of it all. three pokes.

I'd say it was a good visit.

his head circumference, however, is still going strong at 96%.  so thats a plus.
