Yes, we're still here.

and we got a new camera!! Now we're just trying to figure out how to work it...

one of mine, playing with the focus and aperature
too bad this was during kolt's "a blurry picture is still a good picture" stage. glad we talked that one over...next time it will be in focus! woo! and my cropping was a bit off. dangit!
another of kolt's. he thought it was funny

obviously we still have a ways to go but its suuuper fun having a good camera. In case you were wondering, we picked up a Nikon D80 off of KSL for cheap. Barely used too.

When Des is being good

you know there's probably something going on. This morning I was up washing my face and pulling my hair back while Des was supposed to be playing cars. Well he was. Sort of.

Randomness on a Wednesday

Des decided he wanted to vacuum yesterday morning. I just liked how the sun was making his little red hair glow.

And Hannah Montana has been plaguing my dreams lately. Weird. This morning it was a relief to hear des at 6:25. But for two nights in a row now I've been designing clothes, taking ballet classes from a really mean teacher, and hanging out/trying to be cool for Hannah. man. It's been rough. On a nice note, my sister's been in all my dreams playing a really supportive role. You know, in case Hannah decides she's too cool for me or just randomly goes away...Thanks, Carrie. You helped me find the right ballet class too. That could of been a disaster!  :D

Dear Kobe-san,

(that's what my brother calls our dog Kobe.)

You have been a nice little dog--a little finicky when it comes to your health--but altogether a nice dog. Today we learned your knees aren't doing what knees should. And the fact that you hurt yourself out on the ice and snow this morning only made it worse. Way worse. Worse like the vet told us to make sure to turn you over every once and a while so you don't get bed sores-worse. They can operate but the bill is too high for your owners to pay. We feel pretty bad about the whole situation.

We'll keep thinking and praying about what to do in the morning. I'll take you outside so you can lay down in the snow to pee. Because you can't do the one-leg-pee-stance or the squat anymore. And cry a few more tears because even though you are hands down the most expensive pet I've ever owned, we still like you a lot. And you stopped peeing on my floor so now we're friends and all. (although if you did that again it might make our decision that much easier.)

Des really likes you too. I'm sorry he tried to pull you out of your kennel today when you were all broken and hurting. I tried to keep him from climbing in as well. But after you took refuge on my lap things went better and Des really liked closing himself in your kennel. At least he left you alone for 20 minutes. And you got to score some hard-to-get lap time so I guess that's good.

Good boy, Kobe. Good boy.

Love,
your owners

Some Des tid bits

if you look closely you can see his eyes don't look like he's healthy. He's not. The whole morning before this was filled with crying, watching TV, and refusing to eat (which means somethings definitely wrong if this kid doesn't eat). He was sick. We spent the night previous together trying to scrape together some sleep. He liked to sleep on my stomach like a baby. a big 30 lb baby....

Since we haven't had any Des updates in a while, I figured I'd do that today!

Some things he loves:  CARS. CARS. CARS. the movie and also the objects. Loves them to pieces. He drives something around constantly and watches the movie every evening while mom is cooking dinner (the preschool teacher in me is SHRIEKING with horror. the mom in me tells the preschool teacher to shove it. Ever cooked dinner with a 30 lb child wanting to be held/to help/to play/to get attention that isn't in the kitchen? Yeah.)

Some other things he loves: Elmo, Bob the Builder (calls it "Tractors"), and Curious George. I'm noticing a TV pattern here... yes, he loves cartoons. even knows to call them that. So we have to limit his viewing time. A lot. But we're trying.   :D

Foods he loves: PIZZA! Its kinda funny how kids discover pizza and they're sold. Also loves the other toddler staples: chicken nuggets, hotdogs, chips. I also recently discovered he likes apples whole. No cutting/peeling necessary.  Des also loves grapes, oranges, oatmeal (ever since grandpa started eating it too), crackers with cream cheese, and his all-time favorite FRUIT SNACKS!! He even does a jig for fruit snacks. Its pretty funny.

And now its time to go play!
