This morning

The socks were des' idea (and the lack of clothing....) He loves to help Kolt play xbox and requests the headset every time.  I just giggle about the "legwarmers" though. Too funny!!

that was it!

and it was only 8:30.

So Des got put in time-out just now (although I didn't call it that...I didn't call it much. Just "that's it!" and off he went). You see, I just got him up from his morning "nap"--if you can call it that. More like, he got up at 6:20 and ate two bites and then we went back to bed after 40 minutes of playing. We went out to the toys, I laid down on the ground, and Des promptly walked over and smacked me on the face with a toy bus. Then proceeded to laugh. And then tried again with his hand. We skipped most of the "that really hurts and mommy doesn't like that" routine and he went back to bed for a few minutes.

Where did my sweet 1-year old go? Apparently he decided he needs to be 2 now. Sad day.

p.s. he seems to be doing better now, although I decided laying down on the ground probably wasn't a wise thing this morning. Hence this post.

Peaches and more peaches

I canned some peaches the other day. Thank heavens my grandma and aunt came over in the morning to help with the sliced ones. It only took us a few hours to do four batches which was way better than what I was expecting to do on my own. Then I finished the rest later that night with help from my dad. We made peach freezer jam and it is sooo good! I even dream about it at night (although that particular dream ended with the toast dropped on the floor and the jam went everywhere. Then I woke up and almost did the heave-ho right over the side of my bed--luckily only one of a few instances of feeling yucky so far).  Anyway! Peaches: DONE.

Side note: if anyone wants some spaghetti squash or tomatoes we have a ton. My dad went a little nuts planting the garden this year. Just come and pick 'em. :D

Good clean fun (sorta)

Last Sunday we were out in our field looking for golf balls and the irrigation ditch was running. Kolt made up a game where Des throws the golf balls in the water and Kobe goes in a fishes them out. It was actually very entertaining and everyone was having a good time until Des got a little too close to the edge and PLOP! in he went, head first. I fished him out by his pants pronto and we kinda chuckled while he officially flipped out (this kid is not a swimmer. Doesn't do cold so well...) The best part was there was a cyclist riding past just then so he got to witness the whole thing. Child protective services didn't show up so I guess he thought it was kinda funny too. We ditched the clothes since they were now soaking wet and the game continued.

notice the golf ball in mid flight!
here goes kobe
trying to fish it out. He wouldn't put his face in the water at all.
grabbing the golf ball...
Daddy showing him a stick to throw (I think it's a stick...)

I guess it's time...

You might wanna turn it up a bit...

More farm pics

Des had a blast at the Thanksgiving Point Farm Country doo-dad (exhibit? experience? whats the word here??) the other day. We went with a bunch of mom's from the ward with kids under 5 and even I had fun. They have a bunch of nice animals you can pet and look at, as well as a tractor ride or pony ride (seen here). Here are some fun pictures:

First there were some teenager chickens
Are these supposed to be cute?
And then we went outside to view some bigger animals

Mom, I can't see!!
We were trying to see this:
Aww a baby calf!!

Hey heifer.
"I just wanna pet you...."
This was my favorite photo. I turned around from looking at the cute baby calf and Des was over there just reaaaaching trying to get the momma cow to come closer.  He's so unafraid when it comes to animals now that he has goats, a donkey, several dogs, and chickens (plus the occasional horse) to play with every day. I just try to keep him from being trampled (or pecked--those chickens know when des comes there's usually an apple for them).

Destry Rides Again

A lot of the "older generation" refers to an old movie anytime we tell them what Des' name is. They say, "Destry rides again!" every time. Just like that. "What's his name? Destry rides again!" Its what I think about every time he's around anything remotely cowboy.

Picture Des. At a farm. His momma's thinking, "Destry rides again!" and then he does. Well, not again but he rides and he likes it. Until he signs "All done" and dives off. But luckily his momma knows him all too well and was there to catch him before he really left the pony.

See the look on his face? He makes this same face when he rides the 4-wheeler with his dad. You'd think he wasn't having fun but you try to take him off the 4-wheeler and he won't let you. He's "concentrating" I guess.

A side note: you see that rather large horse (although not really, but its next to a bunch of ponies so it looks huge) in the background? I asked Des which one he wanted to ride and he pointed to it. I told him maybe next time....
