Why our printer will be broken someday

This was from a few weeks ago but it makes me laugh still. Little stinker!

two in one day....woo-woo!

K, this was on another blog I read and I've seen them before (same blog...ha) but there's something so awesome about this group that I love.

You should go and watch the one where they do a cover of "single ladies" by Beyonce.

Fun in the sun

Summer finally decided to show up! Des loves to play outside so now we do every day. We even broke out the swimming pool. Here's Des' first reaction:
Hahahaha! He wasn't too impressed. But mostly it was because he was hungry (I know, right? Again!?) so we introduced some more chocolate crackers and he warmed up to the idea.

"This isn't so bad...."

Success! We have  a smile--a chocolaty smile--but a smile, nonetheless! Now he just needs some swimming buddies and we'd have ourselves a party!

Our Memorial Day

We decided to spend the day with Kolt's family and we had a blast! It was pretty low-key but Des had a ton of fun playing outside, meeting the kittens, riding a 4-wheeler and a Hot Wheels truck, and pretty much anything an almost 14-month old could do.

At first we planted some flowers....
So Des wanted to help and gma Renee got him a spoon and a cup to dig with (it may have included a worm too!)
And then we broke out the Hot Wheels! Des was in love.

The only bad thing was it didn't have a battery yet. So we all had to take turns pushing him around the yard.
But he loved it! And you can see his FOUR teeth in this one too! (I suspect more are comin' in...yikes!)
He played a ton with grandpa Rob...
met the kittens...

Even Kobe had fun messing with the Cats. Until one kicked his butt. Then he avoided them the rest of the day (mostly)
And then the big toy came out. Daddy even showed him how to push the throttle and Des loved to make it go! This kid loves riding stuff that goes. Oh man, its in his blood!

p.s. and he made that exact face the entire time he was riding but didn't want to get off. He was soaking it all in, I guess. No time to smile!

Des loves his daddy

Kolt's been in Wyoming working over night and we're missing him. Good thing he comes back today so its a short trip. Its always more fun to be the one traveling than the one who has to stay home.

We have ourselves a climber

I turned around yesterday and this is what I saw:
Zoom out a little:

Yep that would be Des sitting on top of a pillow, on a pillow, on our remaining flooring. He got up there all by himself too! He was so proud! Then he tried to get back down...it was harder than climbing up

then he climbed up again! This time, with his phone so he could make a few calls, do some dancing, and fall off and smack his face on the diaper box he pushed off of the stack. But he took it like a man and only cried for a moment. This kid is getting crazy!

Just Walkin' the Dog

When we go on walks, Des likes to hold the leash for the dog. So this morning when he found the leash on the floor, he toddled over to Kobe and tried to attach it to him. This mostly resulted in a painful YELP! from the dog and me running over to save him. After a brief discussion on "being soft" Des apologized profusely to Kobe and promised to never grab fistfuls of fur/face/paw again.  I happily attached the leash to the right place on Kobe's collar and Des was off with Kobe in tow
.

best buddies!

Speaking of Kobe...he is the most finicky dog I have ever known! He started out life a tiny muffin of a puppy (don't they all?) with his mom being only 4 lbs and his dad only 2 lbs. We thought he'd stay close to that but no. He now weighs in around 15 lbs. So close. But we're coping.

He started scratching like crazy during his first summer and it was established he has allergies. Great. But not too bad. Then he started getting ear infections. Alright...we're still managing. The vet informed us that it was probably food allergies so we had to find some food that wouldn't make him scratch or make his ears fill with fluid. So we eliminated beef. Still scratching. Next we tried to nix chicken. Still scratching. So it was on to no chicken/no beef and wallah! Do you know how hard it is to get food without chicken/beef ingredients? They say it has no chicken or beef but then you read the ingredients and it does. Evil dog food industry. And the price keeps going up when you start eliminating those go-to dog food ingredients.  Somewhere down the line I tried fish too and the scratching started up. End result, we have a Pork and Sweet Potato mix that he gets and nothing else. Ever.

Then these past few weeks Kobe has had some potty problems. It all started when he peed on Des for Mother's Day. I'm sure it was him trying to get his place back in the Davie's food-chain but its when it all started. Then a few days later I had a lovely stream of pee aaaallll across my upstairs. Front to back. No joke. I was going to sell the dog right then. He knows better than that. Next came the day I had my dad and brother over for dinner. Luckily we replaced the carpet downstairs with our awesome wood floors. The dog did it again. Front to back, peed all the way to the backdoor while I stood there and watched. My mouth was open and I just stood there and pointed. That's when my dad said there was something wrong with the dog and I agreed.

My grandpa was nice enough to pay for the vet visit and it ended up that Kobe *probably* has a bladder infection (but it could be stones--but there was NO WAY I was paying for x-rays. I'll sell the dumb dog before that).  So he needs some antibiotics and new food. Then I mentioned his food allergies and the vet said something like, "oh. that makes it a little more complicated." You're telling me, man. Geeze. Plus, Kobe has been acting "stiff in his back legs" so it could be arthritis. ARTHRITIS?! This dog is only TWO!!

Long story, not very short...we blew through $200 in vet bills and new food/supplements/prescription yesterday. I mentioned the fact that we couldn't eat for a week and the vet apologized and said, "have a nice day!" Yessiree, we will. Or at least Kobe will. I told him he had to get a job at the next circus coming through town to pay for his expensive habits.
